On November 28, the election of the 847,500 members of 63,153 Community Action Boards (JAC) will take place

 

 

In times of elections, the control entities fine-tune their surveillance processes to guarantee smooth elections. The opening of the electoral stage will be made by the Elections of Community Action Boards (JAC) and Community Housing Boards (JVC), which will be held on November 28, 2021, the same day as the election of the Municipal Youth Councils (CMJ ).

Regarding the former, the Attorney General's Office announced the start of a monitoring process, taking into account the complaints made by some candidates to occupy the 847,500 places of the 63,153 JAC that will be chosen in the coming days. It is worth remembering that, like the CMJs, this election should have been held in 2020, but it had to be postponed due to the pandemic.

As announced by the vice-attorney Antonio Thomas Arias, who acts as vice president of the National Electoral Control Commission, the instructions have already been issued to the regional, provincial and district attorneys, who were reminded of the duty they have to put under scrutiny the actions of territorial leaders.

"The departmental and local leaders, or the agencies of the same order, will be warned about the obligations that correspond to them to fulfill in order to provide the necessary guarantees for the normal development of the electoral process," concluded the vice-attorney, who reiterated on several occasions that, if necessary, they could go to the governors and mayors to obtain information

The changes in the date of these elections were issued through Resolution 1513 of September 22, 2021 of the Ministry of the Interior, which sti[CENSORED]tes that the period of the JAC and the JVC will begin on February 1, 2022 and that the JAC Associations , which will be chosen on February 27, will begin activities from April 1, 2022.

JAC elections are usually one of the most crowded, taking into account that it is the most elementary level of participation. This is the mechanism by which communities, neighborhoods and villages elect the leaders who will represent them before national and municipal government entities.
