[Animals] Free sterilization! Bogotá opens a specialized center for dogs and cats

The Institute for Animal Protection and Welfare inaugurated a physical and permanent point for the free sterilization of dogs and cats. We tell you where it is and how to apply to the conference.

 

 

In the El Muelle neighborhood of the town of Engativá, more precisely in Carrera 106A # 67-02, the fixed point of the District Institute for Animal Protection and Welfare (IDPYBA) was inaugurated for the free sterilization of dogs and cats. The veterinary center has two offices, three operating rooms, a recovery room and a post-operative room.

Citizens who live with their animals in sectors of stratum one, two and three can attend this center, focused solely on the sterilization of animals. To have the outpatient procedure performed on your pet, you only need to make an appointment and attend with a photocopy of the identity card and a public receipt for the home where the cat or dog is staying.

The ‘Sterilize Salva’ strategy, promoted by IDPYBA, had been developed with mobile sterilization sessions, which were carried out by professionals in all the towns of Bogotá. And although these days will continue to run, with this inauguration, it is expected to increase the number of companion animals involved.

This new sterilization center is part of the renovation of the Animal Care Unit (UCA) that in recent months has been intervened with infrastructure works to provide a better service to animals that require care, rehabilitation or temporary shelter while they are adopted .

It should be noted that sterilization has no cost and is an outpatient procedure performed by professionals attached to the District. Also, the dogs and cats that are going to be operated on must be in good health, for which the owners are invited to carry out pre-surgical tests days before the procedure such as blood count and creatinine.

To perform the sterilization, citizens must make a prior appointment on the ‘Sterilize Salva’ website, through this application. Since March 34,993 appointments have been scheduled. You can also go to the Super Cade de Américas, Manitas, Bosa, Suba, La Victoria or Santa Helena. They can also go to the administrative headquarters located in the Tequendama Residences, in Carrera 10 # 26-51, 8th floor or contact the attention line 647 7117.

In all these means the person will obtain a QR code that must be physically carried on the day of the appointment assignment. Remember that you must have availability of two hours, time that the sterilization process takes
