Angrry.exe™
The acquisition of Clipchamp by the giant Microsoft paves the way for a new video editing solution for Windows 11 users. The software developed by Clipchamp is an easy-to-use video editing solution accessible right from your web browser. According to the official description, Clipchamp's approach combines "the simplicity of a web application with the ability to process video content using the full power of modern PCs," including by using graphics accelerators (GPUs) to speed up processing tasks. Traditionally, this has been the strength of dedicated video editing solutions, generally reserved for users willing to pay extra to unlock advanced video compression acceleration features. So far, none of the parties involved have disclosed the details of the transaction. However, we find out that the Clipchamp developer had 17 million registered users in July, an increase of 54% compared to the previous year. Many of the videos processed using Clipchamp services are aimed at TikTok, Instagra, or Facebook Stories video sharing platforms. Microsoft does not say exactly how it intends to use Clipchamp technologies, but a "natural" fit would be with the productivity package for Microsoft 365 customers.
