Sorana Cirstea Vs. Daria Kasatkina (0-1 H2H), field 14

The first player to enter the fire of the 3rd round challenge will be Sorana Cirstea, who duels with Daria Kasatkina (24 years old, 37 WTA) in the second match scheduled on field 14. The match Cirstea vs. Kasatkina will start immediately after the meeting on the men's table between Casper Ruud and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Daria Kasatkina and Sorana Cirstea met only once in an official match; it happens in the second round in Madrid, in the 2018 edition, when the Russian won in a minimum of sets, score 6-3, 6-1.

To reach the 3rd round in Paris, Kasatkina defeated Misaki Doi (79 WTA), score 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 and Belinda Bencic (11 WTA), with a double 6-2. The former number 10 WTA has 4 WTA titles in his record, and two of them have been won this season.

On the close side of the net, Sorana Cirstea eliminated in the first round the world number 20, Johanna Konta, score 7-5, 6-2, after which she emerged victorious from an extremely balanced duel with Martina Trevisan (97 WTA), score 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

A success on Sorana Cirstea's account would represent the second qualification in the eighth round at Roland Garros. The last time Cirstea reached this competitive phase happens in 2009, an edition in which the Romanian took an extra step and ended up eliminated only in the quarterfinals.

Ana Bogdan vs. Paula Badosa (1-0 H2H), after 18:00, Simonne-Mathieu field

Late on Friday evening, Ana Bogdan will try to consolidate the advantage of the score of the direct matches with Paula Badosa (23 years old, 35 WTA). The two also met in the 25k tournament in Sao Paulo in 2016, when the Romanian won, 6-4, 6-3.

Paula Badosa, 1.80 meters tall, came to Paris from the position of champion of the WTA 250 tournament in Belgrade and is going through the best period of her career so far, confirmed by the qualification in round 3 without a lost set. Badosa defeated Lauren Davis (86 WTA), 6-2, 7-6, respectively Danka Kovinic (62 WTA), 6-2, 6-0.

Curiously, Ana Bogdan played only one match to access the third competitive round. On the first day of the tournament, Bogdan sent home the Italian player who was Romania's nightmare in the Fed Cup dam - Elisabetta Cocciaretto, after a match ended 6-1, 6-3 after only 65 minutes of play.

In round 2, the player born in Sinaia benefited from the withdrawal of the Japanese Naomi Osaka from the competition, amid the tensions created around the subject of the obligation to participate in press conferences.

A victory for Ana Bogdan in this match would mean the best result made in her career at a grand slam tournament.

Ana Bogdan and Paula Badosa will enter the field as soon as the duel between Pablo Carreno Busta and Steve Johnson will end. Both matches of the Romanians from round 3 at Roland Garros 2021 will be broadcast live text on www.sport.ro.
