The rain delayed the return of the Cup Series. Sunday, the weather conditions forced the organizers of the NASCAR to postpone the start of the event scheduled for 24 hours on the small oval of Bristol (Tennessee), covered for the occasion with ocher clay. It's a homecoming for the discipline, founded after World War II in the southeastern United States. Originally, most races were contested on dirt rings or racetracks abandoned to cars. Until 1958, the city of Daytona (Florida) hosted the most prestigious round of the NASCAR on the sand of its beach. The construction of the great Speedways in the 1950s (Daytona, Talladega, Darlington…) put an end to this era. The race was divided into three rounds (100 laps, 100 laps and 50 laps) . Pit stops may only be made during interruptions, intervention by the safety car planned at mid-race or in the event of mechanical damage. Goodyear supplied additional sets of tires after finding excessive wear during free practice.
