Intel-10th-Gen-Core-Comet-Lake-CPUs-1_1 i3 refresh renovado

Intel is about to launch its Rocket Lake line of high-end desktop processors. It will be for the high-end Core i9, i7 and i5 families. But for its Intel Core i3 lineup, Intel will offer revamped Comet Lake products with a speed cap.

The Comet Lake Refresh line isn't really big - it contains six quad-core Core i3 models for desktops and a dual-core Core i3 SKU for ultrathin laptops. These have already been put to the test by Asian bloggers and have given their impressions.

Intel's Comet Lake refreshes are slightly better than the originals

Many experienced hardware users from Asia have already been able to put Intel's range of Rocket Lake CPUs to the test.

The key models of the refurbished Comet Lake family they have been able to test out are as follows:

  • Core i3-10105

  • Core i3-10305

  • Core i3-10325

  • Core i3-10305T

  • Core i3-10105F

  • Core i3-10105T.

The main difference between the refurbished Intel Core i3 Comet Lake and the original Intel Core i3 Comet Lake is a speed increase of about 100 MHz for the base and maximum turbo frequencies on the refurbished model. The Core i3-10325 runs at 3.90 GHz - 4.70 GHz, only 100 MHz higher than the Core i3-10320. This is because improvements in processing technology have allowed Intel to increase speed without affecting performance in a model that is only one year old.

In February, the Core i3-10105F arrived in Malaysia, even though these new CPUs are not available. A Chinese blogger has managed to get samples of Intel Confidential from the Core i3-10105 and Core i3-10325 and even checked them out. The new Core i3-10325 is 1.4% to 2.5% faster than its predecessor in Cinebench R23 and 1.3% faster in 3DMark Time Spy Extreme. In other tests, the advantage of the new over the predecessor model was even less remarkable.
