The Provincial Court of Zamora has sentenced a man to six years in prison for sexually assaulting his granddaughter from 2014, when the girl was eleven years old, until 2018, taking advantage of the summer and Easter holiday periods, when he was in charge of the minor, as reported to Ical sources of the Superior Court of Justice of Castilla y León.

 

In addition to the jail sentence for the continued crime of sexual assault on a minor under 16 years of age, the Court imposes on the subject the prohibition, for ten years, to approach within 500 meters of the victim, his home, place of study or work and communication by any means, even if the girl requested or consented to it. Likewise, once the sentence is served, she will be on probation for ten years and will have to pay compensation of 10,000 euros.

 

The maternal grandfather of the girl waited for her granddaughter to lie down and crawled into bed with her, at which point she was subjected to lustful fondling under and over her clothing and "with full knowledge of the young age of the victim who gave him his kinship with her ", according to the sentence.

The girl "was unable to react" to her grandfather's behavior, "given her young age and the natural shyness and misunderstanding of why this was happening," and she did not speak to anyone about the attacks until, in 2018, when She was 15 years old, "she was honest with a friend and, encouraged by her, she denounced the facts."
