King_of_lion Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 BMW is recalling 430,000 models from the 3 Series in Germany. The reason for this is a well-known fire risk situation, which in the United States previously led to intervention by government agencies. Erik Kouwenhoven 24-02-21, 05:00 Interestingly enough, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration already warned of a fire hazard with these models at the end of 2017, which led to BMW intervention. Now it is apparently also cause for a recall in Germany. There now 430,000 owners of a BMW 3 Series with the internal car codes E90 to E93 have to return to the garage. Possible consequences are a short circuit, melting of a plug contact and, according to BMW, in 'very rare cases' fire - even when the vehicle is parked. A German spokeswoman for BMW admitted to the German magazine Focus that models of the BMW 1 Series and the X5 and X6 have also been recalled in other countries due to the risk of fire and short circuit. Outside Germany, 115,000 copies of the BMW 3 Series would have been affected. It is not known whether and how many cars are at risk in the Netherlands.
