The rumor had been going well for several weeks, confirmed by the arrival of a teaser published by the brand itself. Finally, we know more about this brand new version of the Cupra Formentor , while the range should eventually offer no less than seven different engines. After the 310 and 150 horsepower variants, the SUV therefore adds a string to its bow, with an unprecedented yet more sporty variation, already seen a few weeks ago walking on the Nürburgring circuit. Celebrating the 3rd anniversary of the new Spanish brand, this brand new Formentor VZ5stands out at first glance with a new black VZ5 logo, as well as specific 18 and 20 inch rims. There are also specific carbon elements, including the rear diffuser, incorporating no less than four tailpipes. Inside, the presentation remains broadly the same but we nevertheless note the arrival of new sports seats offering better support in sporty driving. The digital handset, as well as the 12-inch touch screen, are renewed on this high-performance version. More performance But what interests us most is obviously what is hidden under the hood of this Cupra Formentor. This indeed takes over the five-cylinder 2.5-liter TFSI fitted in particular to the new RSQ3. This then allows the SUV to develop no less than 390 horsepower for a torque of 480 Nm, reached from 2250 rev / min. All this cavalry is then sent to the four wheels via a 4Drive all-wheel drive and a double-clutch DSG gearbox, allowing 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.2 seconds, for a maximum speed electronically limited to 250 km / h. Lowered by 10 millimeters compared to the standard Formentor, this VZ5 version also offers an adaptive suspension offering fifteen different settings, as well as five driving modes. Note that the Cupra configuration the sportiest also offers a new Drift mode, making the rear axle more mobile and activating Launch Control. Launched in the last quarter of 2021, this new Cupra Formentor VZ5 has not yet revealed its prices, but there is no doubt that the entry ticket will be much higher than the 33,050 € of the standard version of 310 horses. Especially since only 7,000 copies will be produced of this version styling the range.
