Rafa Nadal

Rafa Nadal put his recent back problems behind him to crush Laslo Djere by an uncontested 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 in his Australian Open debut and reach the second round of the first

Grand Slam of the season.

The resounding result against the Balkan tennis player, who gave him the pass to a second round where he will face the American Michael Mmoh next Thursday, left in the background the pains that the Spaniard suffered during the match, which already prevented him from participating in the last ATP Cup.

Even so, the winner of the big ocean in 2009 started strongly with a 3-0 and advanced to 5-1 in the first set, at which point Djere materialized his only break of the duel; not even that stopped a Nadal launched for victory at the Rod Laver Arena, where he aspires to become the man with the most 'Grand Slam' titles.

A break at the beginning of the second set allowed Manacor to calmly face the set. When he served 5-4 to close the set, the Serbian had three break balls to extend the fight,

but Nadal avoided the reaction.

Already in the third set, the Spaniard put one more gear and only allowed Djere to win one of his services, ending the contest in less than two hours of play. Now, he will face off in the next round with American Michael Mmoh, who beat Serbian Viktor Troicki in a very tight match (7-6 (3), 6-7 (3), 3-6, 7-6 (3) ), 7-5).
