Barcelona star and captain Lionel Messi accounts for 30% of the team's revenues, according to a study conducted by the trio of economist and politician Marc Cerria, former club employee and politician Josep Fabra and economist Evan Cabiza. And it was published by the Spanish newspaper "Sport".

The report said that the recently leaked huge contract that Messi signed in 2017 shows that the player cost his team 383 million and 655 thousand euros at that time. It is not a loss as some people think.

As Messi has succeeded in winning for Barcelona with revenues estimated at 619 million and 265 thousand euros, an additional gain over his cost of 235 million and 610 thousand euros.

The report indicated that sponsorship contracts, tickets, shirt sales and other sales related to the player himself are an important source of Barcelona's income.
