The three new generation consoles that have been presented this year are already on the market, but until now it has been an almost impossible mission to buy one due to lack of stock. However, it seems that now they have restocked the Xbox Series S, the smallest of Microsoft's consoles, and not only is it with units available but you can also receive it before Christmas. If you were looking for one of the new consoles to give away this Christmas, hurry because they are going to fly!

Unlike the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, the Xbox Series S has a somewhat lower performance, but it is still the smallest Xbox in history in the words of Microsoft itself. It has humbler hardware than its older sister but is still ready for next-gen gaming thanks to the Xbox Velocity architecture, and now that it's in stock it could make an extraordinary gift this Christmas.

Despite the fact that the Xbox Series S has less powerful hardware than the Series X, still according to Microsoft it is designed to offer an excellent gaming experience at 1440p resolution and with up to 120 FPS (despite this it also plays video at 4K resolution ).

This small console mounts a custom AMD Zen 2 SoC with 8 cores and 16 processing threads at a maximum speed of 3.6 GHz (3.4 GHz when SMT is activated), while its also custom GPU has 20 CUs at 1,565 MHz speed with AMD RDNA 2 architecture, which provides up to 4 TFLOPs of raw power in FP32 single precision calculations.

This powerful SoC comes complete with 10 GB of GDDR6 memory (shared for CPU and GPU) with 128 bits; 8 GB has a bandwidth of 224 GB / s while the remaining 2 GB only 56 GB / s. The console has a 512 GB capacity internal NVMe SSD that promises up to 2.4 GB / s of raw bandwidth and up to 4.8 GB / s compressed, thanks to its custom hardware decompression block. This storage is expandable with Seagate 1 TB expansion cards, something important because we must remember that this console is totally digital in the sense that it does not have an optical reader to be able to play physical games with it.

As we mentioned before, the console is designed to provide an excellent gaming experience up to 1440p and 120 FPS, in addition to its low latency automatic mode for HDMI 2.1 with compatibility with AMD FreeSync. It supports Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 sound, Dolby TrueHD with Atmos and L-PCM up to 7.1. Regarding connectivity, it incorporates HDMI 2.1 as a video output, it has a Gigabit Ethernet connection and dual-band 802.11ac WiFi. Plus, it has a dedicated dual-band Xbox wireless connection to connect to the controller and accessories.

Finally, it should be mentioned that the console has dimensions of 6.5 x 15.1 x 27.5 centimeters and that it weighs 1,982 kg.

Price and availability
Currently the Xbox Series S is available in several stores in Spain, but that we have seen only on Amazon guarantees that you will receive it before Christmas and, in fact, if you order before 8:45 pm today it will arrive tomorrow.
