"Puteam sa iau 'Balonul de Aur'!" Mutu, DERAIAT de droguri si de Mourinho! Ce scriu englezii dupa ce s-a calificat cu nationala la Euro U21

Adrian Mutu (41 years old) returned to the attention of the international press with the qualification for EURO 2021.

Goal.com published an article dedicated to the former Chelsea player, in which his career was analyzed. The qualification with Romania U21 at the European Championship in 2021 brought Mutu back to the attention of the English press.

"'I could have won the Golden Ball' - Mutu's controversial career at Chelsea, derailed by drugs and Mourinho", is the title of the article in which the Premier League's career in the former national team is analyzed.

"The Romanian striker had the world at his feet, but everything fell apart when it seemed that he was going to shine the brightest," Josh Thomas begins his article.

The Englishmen recalled the moments when Mutu shone in Chelsea's shirt, from his transfer from Parma, after the season in which he had scored 22 goals in 36 matches.

Although he had a brilliant start in the English jersey, under the command of Claudio Ranieri, Mutu failed to adapt to the life of a star in the Premier League, giving in to pressure. The journalist also recalled the conflict he had with Jose Mourinho, who would have forbidden him to go to the national team.

Subsequently, the striker was caught doping, and his career took an unexpected turn. Chelsea fired him and sued him, and the footballer was suspended from football for a period of 7 months.

"If I had made other decisions in the past, I could have won the Golden Ball at some point. I wouldn't want to think about it too much, though," Mutu told Corriere dello Sport some time ago.

The article ends with Mutu's statements after he became a coach, who talks about the mistakes of his past and about the advice he offers to young footballers, so as not to end up in a situation similar to his own.
