When we talk about the facelift of the Fiat Type, one of the main novelties was the arrival of a new variant, previously unpublished. Sitting on the compact five-door bodywork, the Fiat Tipo Cross makes its star appearance. As its name suggests, what it seeks is to take advantage of that pull that crossovers currently have and it does so by applying a formula that we have already seen in other brands and models.

It is a transformation on an aesthetic level, purely of design, to gain appeal and better enter the eyes of some users. Because precisely the Type Cross seeks to attract a different audience, offering more emotions and maintaining values such as interior space or affordable price. It introduces the new front with the renewed logo with the name of Fiat el letters, as well as that distinctive grill and bumpers.

But at the same time, the height is raised by almost 4 centimeters thanks to a recalibrated suspension and new rims shod by larger tires. This solution, which also applies to the Fiat 500X, allows for a higher driving position and more comfortable access. In total they are almost 7 centimeters more than the conventional Type and it has details such as the moldings of the wheel arches or the protections on the bumpers. Not to mention the roof bars, an item that was only available on the Type Station Wagon to date.

For the rest, it maintains the same novelties as the rest of the Tipo family. Inside it has the Uconnect multimedia system with a 10.25-inch screen and some benefits such as connectivity with Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. Also a complete list of driving aids, which includes systems such as signal recognition, intelligent speed assist, lane control, fatigue alert or blind spot detector.

As for the mechanical range, it is a bit limited by only having the new 1.0 GSE T3 available in gasoline. This turbocharged three-cylinder engine replaces the previous 1.4 and has 100 hp and 190 Nm of torque. On the other hand, there are two four-cylinder MultiJet diesel options, with 95 or 130 hp.
