G h o s t l y. Posted October 19, 2020 Posted October 19, 2020 After two outs and a 94 mph sinker, Cody Bellinger hit a long home run in the seventh inning to kill the Dodgers 4-3 over the Braves and win the National League title. Twice they were down on the scoreboard and twice they got the key hits to get back on the scoreboard. Will Smith took the first step in that battle by driving in two runs in the third inning that allowed the Californians to equalize the Braves, who had gone ahead with a single by Marcell Ozuna and a home run by Dansby Swanson. Atlanta regained its advantage in the fourth inning with a hit by Austin Riley, but a disastrous base run killed what seemed like a good rally and ended up sentencing the game, as the Braves did not get even a hit against the California arms again. And then there, taking advantage of the dominance of their pitchers, the Dodgers tied again, this time in the sixth inning with a home run by pinch-hitter Enrique Hernández. A small taste of what Bellinger had in store for the next inning. The outfielder, with astonishing ease, punished right-hander Chris Martin's shot and sent the ball into the stands to end the game. The victory went to Mexican Julio Urias, who completed a three-round blank relay to leave a 1.13 ERA, while Martin charged with the reverse. Among the Californian arms that kept the Braves at bay, Venezuelan Brusdar Graterol stood out. The Creole pitched the sixth inning on target and even prescribed a couple of strikeouts. The Dodgers are the first team to reach the World Series three times in four years since the Yankees did from 2000 to 2003. The Dodgers, who tied a Championship Series record with 16 home runs, overcame a 3-1 series deficit to win three straight games after facing elimination for the second time in their history. The Dodgers will try to win their first World Series title since 1988. They lost Game 7 at home three years ago to the Houston Astros, and then lost in five games to the Boston Red Sox in 2018 when Mookie Betts was MVP. of the American League playing against Los Angeles. 1
