With six teams entered (Ostberg-Eriksen, Bulacia-Der Ohannesian, Rossel-Fulcrand, Camilli-Buresi, Ciamin-Roche, Johnston-Kihurani), the # C3R5Family was very optimistic in Sardinia, to contest the sixth round of the world championship of rallies.

With eleven best times out of sixteen possible thanks to Mads Ostberg, the C3 R5 was one of the animators of WRC2 on one of the most demanding terrain of the season. A transmission problem was regrettable at the start of the rally. The fourth position points achieved can be decisive in the fight for the WRC2 title.

In WRC3 the C3 R5 has shown its competitiveness with a total of seven best times among all the drivers. This competitiveness was rewarded by third place for Marco Bulacia, who has already won in Mexico and was second in Turkey, allowing him to retain the championship lead. From SS2, Marco was delayed by a flat tire, and from there he started a smart race, setting a better time, to go back to the podium. A podium that both Yohan Rossel and Nicolas Ciamin could have been on. Both made an excellent first stage, placing second and third in their category before the test began on Saturday morning, when the mechanics surprised them. They confirmed their high level of performance on these stages, each setting a best time when they returned to competition on Sunday. Eric Camilli, a brilliant WRC3 winner at Monte-Carlo, was putting in a good showing aspiring for second place in the category, before running into a technical problem on the first day, and then forced to retire at the start of day two. as a result of an accident.

Didier Clément, Head of Customer Competition at Citroen Racing said: "It was a difficult weekend for all of us, the car was very competitive, as it shows every weekend anywhere, but surprisingly we lacked reliability. It was frustrating. As we had the speed and our drivers have shown that they could take the C3 R5 to the best positions in each stage in this highly selective Rally of Sardinia. Every day we work to offer a more reliable car with more performance. This weekend It was difficult, but I have no doubt that our teams will come back stronger in the next rounds on the calendar. "

Marco Bulacia, third in the WRC3 with the C3 R5 said: "After the flat we suffered at the beginning, we did not get demoralized and we continued riding with the hope of coming back in qualifying, and consequently I am very happy with the result. I liked my C3 R5, which was very efficient and especially easy to drive on such groundbreaking terrain. If we decide to contest a fifth round, as the regulations allow, our choice will be Monza "

Mads Ostberg stated: "'I am disappointed in our start to the race, even if we got a lot of positives out of this weekend, with two very good stages on Saturday and Sunday. We did everything we could to come back, and recovered four of the six minutes lost. We are going to concentrate on the remaining asphalt tests, it is a surface where I know the car is very competitive, and for my part I am very confident in my ability to fight for victory. "
