On September 21, 2018, the Dutch technology company ASML presented a 258.19 square micrometer ad in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.

It was engraved and printed on an electronic wafer and said: "To be very small, you have to think big #Smallest_AD ASML."

The company produced the ad using lithography techniques that are used to create nano-scale microchips.

The sign has a surface area of 258 microns and measures 33.27 microns by 7.76 microns. A typical strand of human hair is 75 microns wide.

The previous record was set by fast food chain Arby's, which produced a 735-micron square ad on a sesame seed in June 2018.

And the biggest
By contrast, the largest billboard measures 28,922 square meters, enough to cover 2,000 parking spaces. It was the work of the fast food chain Arby's to commemorate its collaboration with Coca-Cola, and was presented in Monowi, Nebraska, United States, on June 13, 2018.

Monowi, which has only one inhabitant, was chosen as the smallest US po[CENSORED]tion. Its only resident is named Elsie Eiler.
