G h o s t l y. Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Audi's commitment to plug-in hybrids is being exemplary and they already have more than half a dozen models with this technology. Until now it had been applied in the larger models, mainly sedans and SUVs, although it is once again present in one of the small ones in the range. The clearest proof is the arrival of the Audi A3 Sportback 40 TFSIe, the most efficient version of the compact that will be available this autumn with a series of new features. As expected, it is the same system that was already introduced in others such as the Golf and León eHybrid. It is the result of combining a 1.4 TFSI gasoline engine with four cylinders and 150 hp with another 80 kW electric motor. The transmission of choice is the six-speed S tronic automatic. In total, a power of 204 hp and 350 Nm of torque is achieved, a good figure always keeping the distance with the Audi S3 Sportback. The Audi A3 Sportback 40 TFSIe achieves some pretty decent performance, accelerating from 0-100 km / h in 7.6 seconds and reaching a top speed of 227 km / h (140 km / h in electric mode). On the other hand, the combined consumption is between 1 and 1.2 l / 100km and the CO2 emissions are between 24 and 31 g / km. The plug-in hybrid has a 13 kWh lithium-ion battery that allows it to achieve an electric range of 65 kilometers, which is 20 more than its predecessor achieved. This battery can recharge in just over four hours in a conventional outlet with the serial cable. There is also the option of including a Mode 3 cable to reduce charging time. In addition, some additional functions are included, such as the cabin pre-conditioning through the myAudi application. This vehicle can also access more than 150,000 recharging points in Europe thanks to the Audi e-tron Charging Service. The A3 Sportback 40 TFSIe has several driving modes to suit every situation. There are the usual Audi drive select, which are Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and Individual. In addition, there are also two special modes: "Battery hold" to maintain the battery charge level; and "Battery charge", in which the battery is recharged on the fly. Highlight the effectiveness of the energy regeneration system in the deceleration and braking phases. The striking aesthetics or the complete technology that we could already know when we tested the 35 TFSI petrol version is maintained. The habitability is slightly reduced, as the boot goes from 380 to 280 liters due to the position of the batteries. The arrival of the Audi A3 Sportback 40 TFSIe is scheduled for this autumn and its starting price in Spain is 42,700 euros, although it can be reduced by taking advantage of the Government's aid plans. 1
