The Royal Greens Golf Course and Club in King Abdullah Economic City will host two professional golf tournaments that fall under the umbrella of the Women's European Round of Golf Championships. The Saudi Women International Championship for teams from 17 to 19 November, with prizes amounting to half a million dollars.
The two championships will be held in a safe environment while taking all the necessary precautions, which will witness the participation of a group of the best golf players in the world, in addition to a group of the best amateur players in a unique competitive environment, as this is the first time that a global professional women's golf tournament is held in The history of the Kingdom, in addition to the fact that the system for the Saudi Women's International Team Championship is new and will be used for the first time in the world in golf.
The holding of the sporting event, the first of its kind in women's sports in general and golf in particular, confirms the commitment of the Saudi Golf Federation and Saudi Golf and the two official sponsors of the tournament, to support and develop women's sports in the Kingdom in line with Vision 2030 despite the difficulties that sport is experiencing around the world in light of this. hard times.
The Saudi Golf and Saudi Golf Federation had announced earlier this year the establishment of the first international women's golf championship, and this came during the competitions of the second edition of the Saudi International Golf Championship presented by Softbank, which witnessed the participation of a group of the brightest golf stars such as: First Class Internationally, the American Bruce Kipka, and his fellow countryman, the champion of the first edition and the fifth seed at the time, Dustin Johnson, in addition to the Northern Irishman and holder of the title of the second edition, Graeme MacDalle.
In this regard, His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Golf Federation and the organizer of the Saudi Golf, Mr. Yasser bin Othman Al-Rumayyan, said: “The beginning of this year was difficult for all peoples of the world in all respects, and the sports sector was greatly affected, and despite these challenges, The Public Investment Fund and Aramco are now more than ever determined to give sport at an elite level the platform necessary to continue to thrive in and outside the dear homeland, making us very proud to throw our full weight behind the Saudi International Women's Golf Championship. ”
