According to the Union health ministry figures released on Sunday morning, total coronavirus cases in India has crossed the 53-lakh mark, while the country's death toll has touched 85,619. In a major development, the DCGI has approved the commercial launch of 'Feluda', the Tata CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) Covid-19 test. The Tata CRISPR test achieves accuracy levels of traditional RT-PCR tests with quicker turnaround time, less expensive equipment and better ease of use. Meanwhile, Britain is likely to reintroduce some national coronavirus lockdown measures "sooner rather than later", as new cases rose to their highest level since early May. India recorded 92,605 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country's positive cases tally to over 54 lakh. 1,133 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. The total case tally stands at 54,00,620 including 10,10,824 active cases, 43,03,044 cured/discharged/migrated and 86,752 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Sunday. 1
