TOYOTA Y DENYO DESARROLLAN UN VEHÍCULO DE PILA DE COMBUSTIBLE CAPAZ DE SUMINISTRAR ELECTRICIDAD ININTERRUMPIDAMENTE DURANTE 72 HORAS EN SITUACIONES DE EMERGENCIA

As a leading manufacturer of portable electricity generators, Denyo will work with Toyota to begin testing this vehicle with the intention of commercializing it and contributing to a more sustainable society, the main mission of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1.

This initiative by Toyota and Denyo has been selected by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan as a ‘research and technological development project with a low impact on the carbon footprint’. Both companies are actively involved in projects with a positive impact on the environment, this being one of their priorities. For this reason, they have jointly developed this vehicle, with the conviction that the application of fuel cell technology in commercial and industrial vehicles is necessary to reduce CO2 emissions.

In addition, Toyota and Denyo will collaborate in the possible development of electrified vehicles, a way to show their capacity and contribute to society, offering added value through large-scale electricity supply projects, being able to have it where and when necessary, such as in emergency situations or catastrophes involving a power outage, outdoor cultural events, concerts or other types of meetings.

Most of today's electricity generation vehicles use diesel engines both to move around and to produce electrical energy. The use of fossil fuels generates negative emissions for the environment, such as greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen oxide (NOx). Fuel cell vehicles, by contrast, use such hydrogen fuel cells to produce energy. This makes it possible to eliminate substances that are harmful to the environment, with an electricity generation capacity of up to 72 continuous hours, and they can also produce hot water powered by said energy for showers or other uses.

The fuel cell vehicle developed by Toyota and Denyo is based on a unit of the Toyota Dyna, a small truck, which uses the same fuel cell system used in the Toyota Mirai, the first hydrogen-powered saloon for its movement and movement. mass-produced in the world.

For electricity generation, a fuel cell unit developed by Denyo is used, under a program funded by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment2. The vehicle can carry 65 kilograms of hydrogen stored in 27 high-pressure tanks, allowing it to travel long distances and generate electricity for long periods of time.

Verification tests will begin this September, carrying out comparisons with other vehicles equipped with conventional engines to verify the special characteristics of the fuel cell vehicle and its charging and electricity generation capacity, as well as the positive impact it will generate. at an environmental level and the reduction of CO2 emissions.

As a socially responsible company, Denyo is committed to activities that are in harmony with the environment and will continue to work on the development of fuel cell systems in its field, as a leading manufacturer of portable power generation equipment.

Toyota aims to achieve a huge reduction in CO2 emissions in transportation, one of its activities being to contribute to creating a society aligned and in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 1. To this end, it will continue to work actively and intensively in the field of electrified mobility.
