The former AC Milan footballer completed his thesis and obtained his UEFA Pro license on Monday. The process, which takes a year, is mandatory for every coach who wants to manage a club in the two highest divisions of Italian football. Pirlo, 41, was hired for the first time as a coach last month when he became the helmsman of the Juve U23 team, which plays in Serie C. But he did not even direct a subsidiary game when he had to replace the fired Maurizio Sarri . Luca Toni and Thiago Motta also received their diplomas this week, as did Vincenzo Italiano, Spezia coach. All coaches began the course in September 2019 and had to attend 240 hours of classes, including several that were organized in the middle of the quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic.
