This agreement follows a successful pilot program between Nissan and Uber in the UK. The collaboration agreement has been communicated within the framework of the announcement that Uber has made to become a zero-emission mobility platform. In 2025, 50 percent of the total distance traveled on the Uber platform in seven European capitals (Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Lisbon, London, Madrid and Paris) will be made in electric vehicles. That means that, by the end of 2021, users will be able to choose a zero-emission vehicle in cities that represent 80 percent of Uber's European market. Within the framework of this collaboration agreement, the companies will study how the adoption of electric vehicles and the electric ecosystem in European cities can be accelerated, including the following initiatives: · Offer Uber app drivers access to Nissan and Renault electric vehicles - Nissan LEAF and Renault ZOE - as well as future electric vehicles from both companies. · Expand the UK pilot program to France by the end of 2020, with a view to rolling out the program in the Netherlands, Portugal and other markets. · Launch joint Marketing and education plans to promote the benefits and advantages of electric vehicles among Uber drivers, as well as offer them test drives so they can experience the vehicles. Jordi Vila, Vice President of Sales and Marketing Division of Nissan Europe, commented: "Thanks to 10 years of experience with Nissan Leaf, we know that people love to drive electric vehicles and that this change can help drivers save money. and supporting the clean air goals of our major cities. By collaborating with Uber in the UK, we have already been able to increase awareness and adoption of zero emission vehicles, and we are looking forward to exploring how to expand this program in Europe. " "This collaboration agreement with Uber is recognition of our ability to conquer new markets and to support professionals in their energy transition. Today, we take advantage of our competitive advantage: an attractive offering of electrified vehicles that contributes to the massive deployment of electric mobility. We have collaborated closely with local authorities in recent years to propose solutions to the growing challenges that cities are facing: transportation, emission reduction and air quality. By signing this collaboration agreement, our goal is to unite forces to accelerate this movement ", concluded Gilles Normand, senior vice president of Electric Vehicles and Mobility Services at Grupo Renault.
