A man has died and seven other people have been injured in a series of stabbings that occurred last morning in the center of the English city of Birmigham, the police confirmed this Sunday, which does not link the events with terrorism.

 

In a statement, the West Midlands Police (central England) indicated that it has launched "a murder investigation", after specifying that, in addition to the dead man, there is another man and a woman "seriously injured", while five more people suffer minor injuries.

 

"We believe that the incidents, which occurred between 12.30 pm and 2.20 am (local time), are related and we are doing everything possible to find those responsible," said the note.

 

 

In an appearance before the press, the chief superintendent, Steve Graham, stressed that efforts are focused on finding the perpetrators and "understanding exactly what happened" "while asking the public to contact if they have relevant information .

Previously, an alleged witness to the events, Cara Curran, told BBC Radio Live that it was "one group of boys against another", who fought each other on a night out, and said that she heard "racist insults".

 

The Police have described what happened as a "serious incident" and, while calling for calm and alertness, they keep several streets cordoned off while experts analyze crime scenes.
