New warehouse complex with state-of-the-art technology and 80,000 m² of space

In the framework of the 30th anniversary of the Mercedes-Benz Germersheim Global Logistics Center, a new state-of-the-art warehouse complex was inaugurated. Through its 80,000m2, this global parts logistics center supplies partners in more than 150 countries with parts and accessories for commercial vehicles and passenger cars under the Mercedes-Benz, smart and FUSO brands. The important role of the Global Logistics Center for vehicle mobility, especially for areas relevant to the system, is also demonstrated during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

 

eCitaro

 

The Global Logistics Center opened in 1990, it was one of the largest and most modern distribution centers for vehicle parts in the automotive industry. Automated material handling technologies, such as driverless transport systems and storage and retrieval devices, were already widely used at that time, and still are today: since then, the central warehouse has been expanded and modernized several times. . The commissioning of the new warehouse complex, with its state-of-the-art materials handling and storage technology, marks another milestone in the site's ongoing development.

 

Organizational changes: Michael Klein, new Daimler Buses Head of Production

Michael Klein started his career at Daimler in 2003 as CFO of EvoBus (UK) Ltd. in Coventry, UK. In 2007, he assumed control of inter-divisional sales at Daimler AG in Stuttgart. In 2008, he returned to Daimler Buses, where he was initially responsible for the sales control of EvoBus GmbH, including the CSP (Customer Services & Parts) business and the subsidiaries.

 

In this role, Michael Klein has set the course for Daimler Buses' future business by introducing new digital service and support offerings under the OMNIplus ON brand, among other things.
