The president of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, has confirmed this morning a remodeling of his government team that implies, as one of the most outstanding elements, the departure of Àngels Chacón, the only one of the PDECat councilors, and a possible candidate of this party, which has not decided to leave the party after the schism opened by Carles Puigdemont at the cost of the appropriation of the Junts per Catalunya (JpC) brand. His relief is read in the purge code.

In addition to Chacón, who is in charge of the Ministry of Business and Knowledge, the update of the Catalan Executive also leaves the Ministry of the Interior, Miquel Buch, out of the Generalitat, confronted on several occasions with Torra for the action of the riot police of the Mossos against indepedentismo, and Culture, Mariàngela Vilallonga, as La Vanguardia has advanced.

At noon, a note from the Presidency confirmed the changes. The lawyer Miquel Sàmper -concejal in Tarrasa de JpC-, will be the new Minister of the Interior, the professor Àngels Ponsa -deputy and General Director of Creation, Territorial Action and Libraries- will assume Culture, while the economist and former deputy Ramon Tremosa, will the same with the Ministry of Business and Knowledge. Samper and Tremosa will take office this afternoon, while Ponsa will do so next Tuesday. The remodeling has been done with its back to ERC, political sources point out, a new sample of a Government split in two.

The remodeling in the Catalan government comes almost by surprise coinciding with the beginning of a political course in which only the disqualification of Torra himself is expected and its repercussions on the management of the Catalan institution as well as the calling of new regional elections, something waited for months.

On September 17, a hearing is scheduled in the Supreme Court to review the judgment of the TSJC for the disqualification of Quim Torra. It is estimated that between seven and ten days after the second room the disqualification. The possibility of Torra calling elections before was taken for granted -the elections would be held in mid-November-, although in recent weeks voices in the independence movement pointed to the possibility of prolonging the legislature.

The remodeling of the Government that Torra could carry out today would point in that direction, although political sources add that the unpredictability with which the "president" acts means that no scenario is ruled out.

Once Torra is disqualified, the president of the Parliament and the chamber have a period of ten days to propose and choose a new president. If there is no consensus for this, a two-month period is opened during which Vice President Pere Aragonès (ERC) would assume the position on an interim basis. Once that period expired without a new president being chosen, the chamber would automatically dissolve and elections would be called for after 54 days. The elections could therefore be at the beginning of February 2021.

All the actors in the secessionist sphere have always defended that the Supreme Court cannot be the one that dictates the electoral calendar, for which they demand that President Torra agree on an electoral date, a demand that from ERC, without success, is insistently raised .
