Dr.Drako Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 The Sinopharm laboratory delegation brought to the country the first tests for the development of the vaccine and in whose trials six thousand volunteers will participate. Scientists from the Sinopharm laboratory in China arrived in Lima on Tuesday to begin the clinical trials in the third phase of the COVID-19 vaccine project, which will be carried out in coordination with the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) and the National University Mayor of San Marcos (UNMSM). The delegation brought to the country the first tests for the development of the vaccine and in whose trials six thousand volunteers will participate. The group of experts was received at the Jorge Chávez International Airport by the Minister of Health, Pilar Mazzetti and the Peruvian Foreign Minister Mario López. The reception also included the participation of the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Peru, Liang Yu. "We are here to support the development of this phase 3 trial, like others that may come, but this is the first and has profound significance," said the Minister of Health. "It is part of the collaboration with the People's Republic of China, we have received support in the health area of about six million dollars. The ambassador and the Chinese people have been with us since the beginning," he added. The application of the tests for the clinical trial will be divided into two groups between the UPCH and the UNMSM. These tests are made up of the Wuhan and Beijing strains and placebos. Last Sunday the first three thousand volunteers registered to receive these tests by the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, whose vaccination process begins on September 8. The registration of the remaining three thousand volunteers in charge of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos is scheduled to take place shortly. 1
