After he was absent from the tests to detect the Corona virus, on Sunday, the Argentine star, Lionel Messi, returned to raise the ceiling of the challenge in the battle of his departure from Barcelona after 19 years inside the walls of "Camp Nou".
Messi missed the first training session for Barcelona in preparation for the new season, Monday, according to a source in the Spanish club, told AFP, which is also the first under the supervision of the new coach, the Dutch Ronald Koeman.

It shows daily the Argentine’s determination to leave the "Camp Nou" stadium and not compete in the Spanish League next season, which starts on September 12th.

The player, who has won the Golden Ball award 6 times, and his lawyers, believe that his participation in training with Barcelona will deny their idea that he no longer belongs to the club, which means that his absence represents a smart move regardless of its legal consequences.

And they all insist that there is a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for free this summer, which was activated last Tuesday, when he sent via Borofax a message of his intention to leave Barcelona.

However, Barcelona stresses that this clause should have been activated by June 10 and not extended, despite the prolongation of the season due to the Corona pandemic, as the Champions League final was held on August 23.

In a statement, the Spanish League expressed its agreement with the Catalan team regarding the issue of its Argentine player, and considered that "the contract is currently valid and contains a penalty clause" worth 700 million euros, and stressed that "to terminate the contract, the player must pay the amount of this item."

The captain, and perhaps the greatest player in the club's history, who scored 634 goals and won 34 titles with him, now faces the risk of being penalized with either a fine or a pay cut if his absence continues.

And Manchester City appear to be the most likely club to obtain the services of the Argentine, whose basic salary amounts to 60 million euros annually.

According to press reports, Messi spoke with his compatriot Pep Guardiola, the Man City coach, who had previously led Barcelona between 2008 and 2012, and won two Champions League titles with him, but there are other clubs interested in him, such as Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Inter, the Italians.
