[AUTO] The Ford Mustang Mach-e is not that expensive: 48,000 euros with 450 km of range

The first model born 100% electric in the brand has an icon surname and an SUV body. It promises up to 600 kilometers between recharges.

 

 

The Ford Mustang Mach-e, the first 100% electric model designed as such by the American company, already has prices for Spain. The car, a model with a noble surname and an SUV body, is offered in four versions, depending on whether it is rear or all-wheel drive (in this case it has two electric motors) and whether the variant with standard or extended autonomy is chosen.

Deliveries will begin at the end of this year, with a basic version that starts at 48,473 euros without state aid. Taking full advantage of the Moves II, that is, giving a car of seven or more years in return, the figure will be reduced by 5,500 euros.

 

 

Given its size (it measures 4.71 meters long) and that there are not many rivals yet, it is a very tight rate, quite a distance from other (premium) models such as the Jaguar i-Pace, the Mercedes-Benz EQC or the Tesla Model Y. The latter does not fall below 64,000 euros with a range of 505 kilometers.

UP TO 600 RANGE WITH A CHARGE
In the case of the Mustang Mach-e, for almost 16,000 euros we will get the rear-wheel drive (RWD) variant, with 258 hp of power and a 76 kW battery that in the homologation tests reached a range between recharges of 450 km. As a curiosity, Ford points out that the car, although it does not pollute when moved by electricity, does have estimated emissions from the generation of that electricity equivalent to about 21 grams of CO2 per km (or 1.6 liters of fuel each 100 km). Ford does not specify from which electricity production mix it obtains this data.

 

 

If we want to go a little further, we can opt for the two-wheel-drive variant with extended autonomy up to 600 km. To do this, a higher capacity battery (99 kW) is mounted and we also scale the engine that delivers 285 HP, although this does not mean that performance such as acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h is improved: the two models invest the same time , 8 seconds, to complete the maneuver.

VERY WELL EQUIPPED AND AFFORDABLE EXTRAS
Although it will be necessary to pay a lot more, specifically 56,277 euros. They are justified by the greater power and autonomy, since the equipment is the same. Thus, all rear-wheel drive Mustang Mach-e come with leather upholstery (perforated or not), 18-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, 10.2-inch digital dashboard and 15.5-inch touch screen , key function in the phone and adaptive cruise control with traffic assistant.

 

 

Then, as extras, you can add different paintings (between 900 and 1,300 euros in cost) and the so-called Technology package that, for another 1,800 euros, incorporates a B&O audio system with 9 speakers, an electric hands-free gate, a pre-collision assistant with radar / camera, intelligent adaptive cruise control (IACC) with roadside assistance and driver monitoring system, full parking assist assist and 360 ° camera.

THE TOTAL TRACTION REACHES 337 HORSES
Until the details of the Mustang Mach-e GT are known, the flagship of the range is represented by the all-wheel drive, extended range version. It has two electric motors that add up to 337 hp and can travel 540 km until the battery is exhausted, which is the one with the highest capacity. If we opt for the 76 kW, then the maximum power is 258 hp and the range, 420 km.

 

 

These versions, thanks to the greater thrust of the two propellants, reduce the time to do the 0 to 100 km / h by one second, and deliver a maximum torque of 565 Nm (415 for the two-wheel drive models).

The price of the most performance model starts at 64,903 euros, which is reduced to 55,773 euros in the lower one. Its standard equipment adds, compared to the RWD versions, 19-inch alloy wheels, front seats with eight-position electric adjustment and memory or red brake calipers, among others. As an option, only the possibility of the panoramic roof is added.
