YaKuZa--BoSs Posted August 14, 2020 Posted August 14, 2020 It will be marketed in all regions including Spain. The first model arrives in 2021 Hyundai will launch the Ioniq on the market next year as a sub-brand that encompasses all electric models. It is not the first brand that decides to bring together its electric models under the same name. It is the case of Mercedes-Benz that does it with the EQ division; BMW with the i area, the Audi e-tron or the ID family that Volkswagen is launching on the market. Hyundai has explained that the nomenclature for the new Ioniq models will be numbers, being the odd ones for SUVs or SUVs and the pairs for sedans or saloons. The new brand will debut the Ioniq 5, a crossover SUV (CUV), which will arrive in 2021 and which is based on the Hyundai 45 EV Concept, presented at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. In 2022, Hyundai will present the Ioniq 6 electric saloon, whose lines anticipate the Prophecy prototype, presented last March. And in early 2024 will arrive the Ioniq 7, a large SUV the size of the Santa Fe, the largest model of the parent brand, but 100% electric. These new models would join the two completely electric that Hyundai already markets at the moment such as the Ioniq and the Kona. Ioniq brand models will be built on Hyundai's exclusive electric global modular platform (E-GMP) for electric vehicles. The Korean brand ensures that with this chassis in which the batteries would be housed in the floor of the vehicle, the interior habitability is improved and will allow modular batteries depending on the autonomy needs of the customers. This makes it possible to lower the final price of the vehicles, since the battery continues to be, by far, the most expensive component of an electric vehicle. Hyundai Motor Group (also includes KIA Motors) has set a goal of selling one million units of electric vehicles and reaching 10% market share by 2025. Under Strategy 2025, the Korean group aims to become the third largest The world's largest green vehicle manufacturer by 2025, with 560,000 pure electric (BEV) sales. To these should be added the few units provided by the Nexo, its hydrogen vehicle or fuel cell; in addition to the commercialized units of its hydrogen truck. The Korean group has ensured that this new sub-brand of clean vehicles will be global, which will reach Europe and Spain from next year. Hence, for its launch, the Eye was chosen for its promotion, turning the iconic London Ferris wheel next to the Thames into a Q illuminated at sunset. NO DELAY Hyundai states that the launch of the Ioniq 5 will not be delayed by Covid-19. The pandemic has had a negative impact on the accounts of the Korean group. Global sales in the second quarter fell 36.3% compared to the same period in 2019 to 703,976 units. The reduction in deliveries caused revenue to decline 18.9% between April and June to 21.85 trillion won (15.73 billion euros), leaving the net result at 337.32 billion won (232 million euros). However, the Korean consortium expects to improve the figures in the second part of the year (second and third quarters depending on their fiscal year). In the US, in July, Hyundai closed positively, increasing sales by 1% compared to the same month the previous year. For its part, in the Spanish market, its CEO, Polo Satrústegui, plans to close the year with sales of 40,000 units, which would be 20,000 less than those delivered in 2019. According to the executive of the Korean brand, the network has been obtaining a profitability above 2% for five consecutive years, allowing it to face this crisis with sufficient liquidity. 1
