A total of 15,200 electrical discharges have fallen in the last 24 hours in Spain, of which 4,000 have been recorded between 9.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. in the central area, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), which foresees intense storm activity and electric in the next few hours.

 

AEMET spokesperson, Rubén del Campo, explained to Europa Press that a significant number of lightning strikes were recorded during the morning of this Tuesday, especially in Burgos, Valladolid, Segovia, Ávila, Madrid, Toledo and Ciudad Real, where they have dropped these 4,000 downloads. However, although he describes the morning of August 11 as abundant in lightning, he recalled that this volume is far from 2009, when several days were recorded with more than 60,000 daily lightning strikes and even one day more than 100,000 downloads were recorded.

 

                                     

 

In this context, he has anticipated that this Tuesday afternoon the storms will continue to have great electrical activity, especially in Asturias and in the central area, where very heavy rains, hail and wind are expected and with an electrical device that will continue to be significant in particular in Madrid, Toledo, Ciudad Real, as well as in the north of Castilla y León and Asturias and Cantabria.

 

Where more stormy activity is expected this afternoon is in Asturias and Castilla-La Mancha, he stressed. Looking ahead to this Wednesday, he has pointed out that the storms will be concentrated in the northern third and in the Iberian system and has expressly mentioned the north of Castilla y León, Cantabrian communities, Aragon and Valencian Community.

 

Problems in Andalusia

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has raised to orange the warnings for rains and storms for this afternoon in the Sevillian countryside, until 10 pm, in a day in which up to fifteen incidents related to these phenomena have already occurred in the province, mainly centered in the municipality of Estepa, according to reports Emergencias 112 Andalucía.
