YaKuZa--BoSs Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 The police operation to stop the riots in two neighborhoods of Bangalore by a post on Facebook ends with 3 killed by police shootings, 60 injured and 110 arrested At least 3 people died and 60 were injured in the early hours of this Wednesday during riots that broke out in the southern city of Bangalore, as a result of a publication on the social network Facebook, critical of Islam, by a relative of a local politician. "Three people have died during a police operation that tried to calm the situation, and 60 police officers are injured," an official from the Bangalore Police Control Room told EFE, who preferred to remain anonymous. He added that the protesters "vandalized one of our police stations and several vehicles." The source explained that the riots broke out "at night" on Tuesday and "burned several vehicles around the house of the local deputy" Srinivas Murthy, of the historic Congress party -of the Nehru-Ghandi dynasty- after "a relative yours ", posted on the social network Facebook a derogatory message against the Prophet Muhammad. The author of the post, Murthy's nephew, Naveen, was "arrested for posting derogatory messages," Bangalore Police Chief Kamal Pant said on Twitter. "In addition, a total of 110 people have been arrested on charges of arson, stone-throwing and assault on the police. I appeal to everyone to cooperate with the police to keep the peace," Pant wrote. The areas of "DG Halli and KG Halli (north of the city) have experienced violent incidents. To regain control, the police used sticks, tear gas and live fire," Bangalore police reported on Twitter, before Pant acknowledged to local television NDTV that live fire was the cause of the three deaths. Pant also noted that a curfew has been imposed in the affected neighborhoods that will last until Thursday morning, while concentration restrictions have been imposed in the rest of the city. "The attack on a journalist, the police and public furnishings from last night's riots is unacceptable. The Government will not tolerate such provocations and rumors. Actions will be taken against the perpetrators. I call on the people to keep the peace and act. in moderation and without panic ", wrote in the same social network the head of the Government of Karnataka -whose capital is Bangalore-, BS Yediyurappa. 1
