SougarLord Posted August 8, 2020 Share Posted August 8, 2020 The Finnish Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas beat his British teammate Lewis Hamilton and won the pole position in the qualifying session of the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix, which will allow him to start first in the race this Sunday at the circuit of Silverstone (UK). Bottas' best time, achieved on their last attempt on medium tires, was 1: 25.154, 63 thousandths faster than his teammate's. The Finn got his second pole of this season after the one obtained in Austria, the thirteenth of his career. Third place went to the surprising Racing Point of the German Nico Hülkenberg, who had already set the second fastest time in Q2 and finished third just under a second in the final session, ahead of the Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull ), fourth. Australian Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) was fifth, followed by Canadian Lance Stroll (Racing Point), Frenchman Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri), Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Thai Alexander Albon (Red Bull) and Englishman Lando Norris (McLaren), who closed the top ten. The four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari), who will start in twelfth place, and the Spanish Carlos Sainz (McLaren), thirteenth, were left out of Q3.
