SougarLord
It was the first premium car plant installed in Mexico and, subsequently, it presented the first plug-in hybrid car produced in the country. Now, Audi Mexico announces the start of production of an updated Audi Q5, recently presented in Ingolstadt, which will begin its sale in December 2020 in the Mexican market. The changes in production for the optimization of the Audi Q5 represented a real challenge for the plant. To carry out this project, which includes new technical and aesthetic characteristics, two specific trainings were developed for more than 600 collaborators who will be in direct contact with the new design of the car. The first qualification step was a basic workshop on changes to the model, which was focused on collaborators from the assembly area and quality technicians, as well as one specialized in the electronic configuration of this Audi Q5. “At Audi México we are very pleased with the optimization of our Audi Q5 and the start of its production, a premium SUV manufactured locally. We are very proud of that ”, says Andreas Lehe, President of Audi México. “This project would not have been possible without the great teamwork of all the collaborators who operate the San José Chiapa plant in a premium way. Very soon this Mexican production car will be touring markets around the world!”. Since 2016, the Audi México plant has been responsible for producing the Audi Q5 in all its derivatives for the whole world, except China, which produces this model for its local market. The Audi Q5 has been one of the best-selling SUVs in the mid-size premium segment in Europe for years. And now Audi has made it more attractive. The new Audi Q5 update combines sporty character with excellent daily usability. In addition, a new range of infotainment was introduced, as well as assistants. The sharp exterior design of this highly successful model emphasizes the Q identity and features a group of taillights with digital OLED technology for the first time in the world. Audi Mexico is ready to start production of the updated Audi Q5, strictly complying with the measures implemented in conjunction with the health authorities, in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The health and safety of the more than 5,200 employees is the highest priority.
