A few months ago, Renault released its E-TECH family in Europe, the electrified versions of its thermal models, starting with the Clio and the Captur. But the brand has been working for a long time on 100% electrical proposals, which should arrive at the beginning of next year.

According to the French specialized site Caradisiac, Renault will launch an SUV that will be called Zandar (internal code BCB) and that will be twinned with the new generation of the European Captur presented in mid-2019. It will be focused on competing with the Peugeot e-2008, Opel Mokka -e and the electric Ford Puma, among others.

What is known so far about the Renault Zandar is the following:

It will be released in early 2021, with deliveries towards the end of that year.
It will use the CMF-EV platform, the electric car version of the Alliance with Nissan.
It will be similar in size to the Captur, that is, 4.2 meters long and 2.63 meters between the axes.
It will be offered with power levels between 130 and 160 Hp.
It will have two battery options to offer 300 and 500 kilometers of autonomy.
The design will be inspired by the conceptual Morphoz.

Ale recalled that in the Morphoz concept, Renault released a modular battery technology. The model has a 40 kWh package sufficient to offer 400 kilometers of autonomy, but it is possible to rent a second smaller battery and add it to the car, to increase the autonomy to 700 km. We do not know if the Zandar will have this system.

Returning to Renault, a few months ago he presented his electrical strategy where the E-TECH range will be essential. She looks at conventional hybrid cars like the already-released Clio E-TECH, and plug-in hybrids like the Captur and Megane E-TECH.

What we know about the plan is the following:

The group's first 100% electric model will be the Dacia Spring, made in China and marketed in the urban segment (B). It would arrive in 2021 to compete with the Fiat e-500.
By 2022 a 100% electric version of the Kadjar will be launched, targeting the midsize segment (Peugeot e-3008, Volkswagen Tiguan).
This model will share size and mechanics with the Nissan Ariya that launches this month.
By 2022, the brand wants to offer five hybrid vehicles (three of them new), four plug.in hybrids models (one of them unpublished) and the aforementioned two electric models, in addition to the Dacia Spring.
