Former defender Marian Cisovsky passed away at the age of 40, iSport announces.

Diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in 2014, Marian Cisovsky lost the battle with the disease. Former player at Viktoria Plzen and Poli Timișoara, Cisovsky was forced to retire six years ago, after doctors gave him the verdict.

Cisovsky played in Timisoara between 2008 and 2011, where he collected 70 matches in Poli's shirt.

Viktoria Plzen posted a message in her memory: "Today is the saddest day. We must sadly announce that Marian Cisovsky has left us forever. Sincere condolences to Marian's family," Viktoria Plzen wrote on Facebook.
