#Em i[N]O' Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 Deprived of top of the range petrol, the BMW X1 finds an equivalent power through this plug-in hybrid offer of 220 hp, eligible in addition to the ecological bonus. By the end of 2019, the mid-career restyling of the BMW X1 had been marked by various aesthetic developments and the arrival of a new engine at the top of the petrol range. A 231 horsepower 4-cylinder turbo, convincing in its ability to inject extra dynamism into the compact SUV. Unfortunately, restrictions on CO2 emissions in France were finally right. Fortunately, the propeller builder has shown anticipation by working on an almost as powerful and necessarily more virtuous plug-in hybrid alternative. Enough to allow the best-selling BMW in France to keep itself above the threshold of 200 equines without excessive gluttony. Indeed, this new plug-in hybrid version offers 220 horsepower. When it comes to driving pleasure, the sensations are almost similar to what we felt when testing the petrol version last fall. The transition from thermal to electric is imperceptible and driving pleasure is never accompanied by any kind of fatigue, despite the optional 19-inch rims, thanks in particular to good seating and perfect seat support. Therefore, on the comfort side, we can simply regret that the general soundproofing is not as successful. Over the course of turns, the steering is still as responsive and relatively lighter than the petrol version tested during the restyling. The compact SUV does not lack tone, although we logically feel the overweight generated by the hybrid system. When the thermal block is not requested, it claims a propulsion status dear to the Bavarian manufacturer, by means of this electric motor placed on the rear axle. Bonus of 2000 euros In addition to the three traditional modes, Comfort, EcoPro and Sport, the driver has the leisure to navigate among the three modes dedicated to the hybrid. By default, the Auto eDrive mode takes care of the management between thermal and electric using the profile data of the route entered in the GPS. To "force" the vehicle to operate in zero emission mode, you must switch to Max eDrive mode, in force up to 135 km / h. Conversely, via Save Battery mode, it is possible to keep a reserve of electrical energy for the rest, or even to recreate it by calling on the internal combustion engine as a generator. At the end of our journey, well representative of the different types of driving (city, country, highway), we noted a consumption of 4.3 l / 100 km. Homologated to 52 km of electric autonomy according to the WLTP cycle, the X1 is close to this value in reality, exceeding 40 km on demanding roads. New for the restyling, the infotainment system affixed to an 8.8-inch touch screen, which can now reach 10.25 inches as an option, does not, however, provide a graphic display of the use of electrical energy, unlike to the X3 plug-in hybrid. For technical reasons linked to the implementation of the hybrid system, the X1 xDrive25e cannot offer the option of the 13 cm sliding bench seat of its 100% thermal alter ego. In the same vein, its trunk volume is logically reduced, up to 55 liters, for a basic capacity set at 450 liters. For an 80% recharge, it takes 3.5 hours on a conventional socket and 2.25 hours on a 3.7 kW Wallbox. Its arrival on the market at the start of summer is very timely, given the bonus of 2,000 euros awarded to certain plug-in hybrid vehicles. The X1 xDrive25e is one of the eligible models, with its electric autonomy in the city of more than 50 km and its price not exceeding 50,000 euros. This last criterion applies to the entry-level model Lounge, displayed from 46,650 euros. As for our trial version, responding to the intermediate finish xLine, it is credited with a starting price of 51,950 euros. In a few weeks, the smallest of the raised models of the propeller firm will be joined by the X2 xDrive25e, also eligible for the ecological bonus. BMW X1 xDrive25e : our opinion Attractive for its bonus, this rechargeable hybrid version is also accomplished in its operation. The compact SUV gains in sobriety, without losing driving liveliness.
