The official opening of Casa Seat, the space that the Spanish automobile brand opens to the public next Friday in the heart of Barcelona, illuminated this Tuesday the new mobility of the car manufacturer, which focuses on urban electric micromobility with a scooter and a motorcycle , both of high performance and inserted in the urban mobility platform named Seat Mó.

The head of urban mobility for Seat, Lucas Casanovas, pointed out that the company's strategy to tackle the city center has been based on "the three P's: product (scooters, motorcycles and microcars), 'partnership' (micro mobility developments with the brands Sway and Silence) and the mobility services platform, Seat Mó.

The presentation of the platform and its two models for touring the city center must have been held at the Mobile World Congress, which was suspended in Barcelona four months ago. The premiere of the new building, a space for locals and visitors to enjoy, has been the perfect occasion to discover the more or less well-kept secret.

The Sway scooter surprises with its ability to climb slopes of up to 20% slope. In addition, it has an autonomy between recharges of no less than 65 kilometers, explained Lucas Casanovas, so it would be perfectly equipped to make trips that no one imagined in a scooter of these characteristics. "Roundtrip between Barcelona and Mataró or between Castelldefelds and Barcelona", exemplified the person in charge of Seat.

A SPECTACULAR START
The Seat motorcycle has been developed by Silence and has 125 kilometers of autonomy capable of going up to 50 kilometers per hour in just 3.8 seconds, according to Casanovas. As for food, the head of urban mobility at Seat highlighted the ease of recharging through a conventional plug for the garage of the home or that of the office. And even more: the possibility of removing the battery to charge it at home and move it like a trolley thanks to the wheels that are attached.

The motorcycle will have a price of about 6,500 euros, although Seat has launched a subscription system with which to have the vehicle "for less than 200 euros a month, with everything included and with no commitment to stay."

The Seat Mó motorcycle sharing platform will be operational, with these new vehicles, "in a few weeks," Casanovas reported to facilitate mobility in the city. Seat sets its clientele in youth, who do not have the resources to buy a car, but also for all kinds of customers and, of course, for the delivery companies that abound in the streets of the main Spanish cities.

Interestingly, Seat has given up in recent weeks its experience with car sharing through the company Respiro. He saw no business options and the coronavirus crisis gave the lace to the project that was born two years ago and that cost him five million euros. Now another activity is born based on the micromobility of scooters and motorcycles.

And in the field of electrification, Seat has also ceased to lead the Volkswagen Group in the small electric car division that it had accessed two years ago.

In Barcelona hopes for a new business are reborn, which in addition to smelling new, allows the city to be given an environmental respite if everything goes as planned. Casanovas spoke in front of the Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, and the counselor for Empresa i Coneixement of the Generalitat, Àngels Chacón, in Seat's responsibility with "clean air, the reduction of noise pollution and the occupation of less space in the city, which together achieve a better quality of life. "

The mayor and the minister had congratulated Seat for the inauguration of Casa Seat, as well as, previously from Madrid, the vice president of Ecological Transition of the Government of Spain, Teresa Ribera. On behalf of the company, operations at Casa Seat were directed by the President of Carsten Isensee and the Vice President of Seat and CEO of Cupra, Wayne Griffiths.
