"Lexus will never be boring and here we have the LC 500 to prove it," Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota Motors Corporation, proclaimed four years ago when he presented the new hybrid coupe of the Japanese brand at the Detroit Motor Show. The challenge is sustained in the 2021 version of the model, which is already in the newly reopened Spanish dealerships. The prices recommended by the brand are 120,000 euros in the Luxury finish and 130,000 in Sport +, which is committed to a more dynamic approach. The renovation is related to many aspects, but above all with the needs that are adding to the passing of the years with a special emphasis on connectivity and, says Lexus, "the connection between car and driver". Basically, the coupe incorporates the MM19 multimedia system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard; the Active Cornering Assist assistance system and improvements in driving feel with the so-called Lexus Dynamic Handling System. The improvement in performance, in the absence of checking it at the wheel, is based on the redesign of the suspension, which incorporates aluminum materials that guarantee rigidity and reduce the suspended weight of up to 10 kilograms. The 3.5-liter direct fuel injection V6 engine enables wide torque availability at any speed. The common hybrid Lexus system is joined by the four-speed automatic transmission, whereby the gears combine to create the 10-speed effect, which can be changed via the paddles on the steering wheel. The electric motor allows speeds of up to 140 km / h to be achieved without the aid of combustion. Both engines achieve a combined maximum power of 359 hp. The design is this LC stands out for the double arrowhead mesh grill, which runs the entire front of the vehicle, a large glass panel and hidden rear pillars. The rear light groups also give character to the model. The chrome moldings evoke the curved lines of the catana, the traditional Japanese sword, according to the creators of the drawing. In option there is a CFRP composite roof. Lexus has made a new commitment to renew both the exterior appearance and the quality and comfort of the materials, especially the exclusive seats of the LC.
