The main leagues in Europe begin to return, although in the case of France, it will do so with the following season. The board of directors of the French Professional Football League (LFP) "set the start of the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 championships respectively on August 23 and 22, 2020," indicates a plan by the agency.

In the document, consulted on Saturday by the AFP, the French league specifies that it is only a provisional calendar, pending the announcements that UEFA must make about its European competitions in the next executive committee on June 17.

 

 

"After consultations with the Médiapro, Canal + and beIN Sports broadcasters, the season start dates can be set for August 22 for Ligue 2 and August 23 for Ligue 1," the agency writes.

Among the great championships in Europe, France is the only one where the season was closed permanently, by decision of the government.

The Bundesliga resumed last weekend and LaLiga is due to restart the week of June 8. The talks continue in Italy and England.

The fate of the League Cup (PSG / Lyon) and Coupe de France (PSG / Saint-Etienne) finals remains in the air. AFP
