Peruvian soccer is in mourning. This Saturday, ex-soccer player Pedro Pablo ‘Perico’ León passed away after presenting complications in his health.

As is customary in these painful moments, the main national football clubs joined the tribute to this great Peruvian football player and wrote farewell messages for the idol of Alianza Lima.

The former striker was admitted on April 28 after suffering a respiratory (pneumonia) and kidney condition that deteriorated his health.

 

Ico Perico ’, as he was known in soccer slang, played for Alianza Lima between 1960 and 1970 and participated in foreign clubs such as Barcelona in Ecuador and Deportivo Galicia in Venezuela. In addition, he wore the shirt of Juan Aurich, Unión Tumán and Deportivo Municipal.

One of the first to speak was the blue and white team, who sent their heartfelt farewell through their Twitter account: Towards eternity! We deeply regret the sensitive death of our idol, Pedro Pablo ‘Perico’ León, the best 9 in the history of football. You take a part of our heart, ‘Perico’!

 

Another team that was also present at this tribute was Universitario de Deportes who wrote on Twitter.

"We deeply regret the death of Pedro Pablo León García, glory of Peruvian soccer and emblematic player of @ClubALoficial and @ SeleccionPeru. Our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. Rest in peace,« Perico »!"

 

The Municipal Sports Club, also the home of León, said goodbye to his former member: "We regret the sensitive death of Pedro Pablo León, former striker of the Peruvian National Team and Municipal Sports Club. We extend our condolences to his family and friends."

 

The Peruvian Football Federation also wanted to participate in the tribute to the blanquiroja forward and sent condolences to his family.

"The Peruvian Football Federation regrets the sensitive death of Pedro Pablo‘ Perico ’León, historical striker of our National Team and glory of Peruvian football. We send our deepest condolences to your family and friends. Rest in peace, scorer! ”
