Jultxxxyes Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 The military man first opened fire on his commander and fellow servicemen, and then fled in a stolen car and shot several people at a local mall. At least 20 people have died and 31 have been injured on Saturday in Thailand, after a soldier opened fire on other soldiers at his base and then attacked several people at a local mall, AP reports with reference to local authorities. The uniformed shot and killed several people at his military base, after which he stole a vehicle and headed to the Terminal 21 shopping center in the city of Nakhon Ratchasima, in the central region of the country, where he opened fire on several people. Some information pointed to the fact that the man had taken "at least 12 hostages" and had entrenched himself on the fourth floor of the mall. For several hours no details appeared on the alleged hostage taking in progress, until around 11:30 p.m. (local time) it was reported that the special forces had managed to enter the Terminal 21 building and secured its ground floor. The Crime Suppression Division of Thailand (CSD) has published a photo of the interior of the mall where a group of citizens escorted by uniformed agents is seen. For some reason, the CSD later deleted the publication. "It seems he went crazy" The killer, identified as Jakrapanth Thomma, transmitted the assault to the mall through Facebook Live and also uploaded a 'selfi' in which he appears with a rifle in his hands. Soon after, the attacker's Facebook page was disconnected. Together with her commander and a service partner, a 63-year-old woman is among the people killed by the military in the camp. The authorities admit to not knowing what moved the aggressor to act. "We don't know why he did this. He seems to have gone crazy," said Defense Ministry spokesman Kongcheep Tantrawanit, quoted by AFP. In the social networks circulate numerous images that collect scenes of panic. In one of these videos people are fleeing under the noise of the firing of an automatic weapon, while in another several people escape from the mall, already after sunset, after the information about the hostage taking arose. There have also been images of a fire declared outside the shopping center, allegedly caused by the deflagration of a gas cylinder hit by the shots, according to local media. The Bangkok Post also reports that the Thai police have found Thomma's mother, who lives in another province, and moves her to the scene in the hope that the woman can persuade him to surrender.
