2019 has been a magnificent year for Borgo Panigale's house, whose sales figures, exceeding 53,000 units, reinforce its positioning in the Premium end of the motorcycle market in more than 90 countries.

The results obtained last season are to be frankly happy, in all of 2019, Ducati Motor Holding has managed to sell, exactly, nothing more and nothing less than 53,183 motorcycles worldwide, surpassing, although by little, the record of 53,004 motorcycles reached in the past. In this way, the Italian firm strengthens its presence in the 90 countries in which it is present, keeping Italian as its number one and, at the same time, experiencing significant growth in other markets such as Chinese, Brazilian or Spanish.

A great contribution to this result came from the Panigale: with a total sales of 8,304 units, which allows it to retain the sales leadership established in 2018 and confirms the status as the world's best selling superbike with a market share of 25% . In 2019, two new bikes (the Hypermotard 950 and the Diavel 1260) were introduced, which accumulated sales of 4,472 and 3,129 respectively, doubling the total volumes that were achieved in 2018 by the previous versions. The Multistrada family had an equally good performance, with an increase of 3% compared to 2018 -thanks also to the incorporation of the 950 S and a renewed 1260 Enduro-; Delivering a total of 12,160 units, the best sales record since the multibike manufactured in Bologna made its debut sixteen years ago.

Given these great results, Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, said: "2019 was a difficult but also rewarding year. We are working to make Ducati the most desired motorcycle brand in the world." He also stated "and the results that we are reaching, the development of the range and the market response confirms that we are on the right track. In the current global market, one in four superbikes is now a Panigale. The technical content that we have transferred to the R version and our Extensive experience in competition for the V4 2020 range guarantees that this motorcycle will continue to be the reference in this category. In addition, the list of orders for the new Streetfighter V4 overflows - more than 1,700 are already requested - and their deliveries will begin in March of 2020 ".

In this same sense, Francesco Milicia, Vice President of Global Sales added: "We are satisfied with the results achieved in 2019. In the last twelve months, an important network development plan was implemented, with 54 new points of sale in 20 countries. Expansion plan will continue this year to further improve the coverage of the global network and offer our fans a premium growth experience. ”

An international success

By markets, sales in Italy continue to grow, confirming that this country is Ducati's number one market. Motorcycle sales made a total of 9,474 units, an improvement of 3% over 2018 and an increase of 20% over the last three years. In the United States, Ducati delivered a total of 7,682 motorcycles, down by only 2% despite the negative trend that saw this market reduce by 7% compared to 2018. However, Brazil (+ 20%), Spain (+ 10%) and France (+ 8%), had an excellent result. China, a country where the Italian brand is highly appreciated, continues its upward trend in recent years and is now, with 3,200 motorcycles sold (+ 12%), the manufacturer's fifth largest market.

This positive end of 2019 allows Ducati to look to the future with confidence. By 2020, the product range is now even more complete and the outlets will soon receive the long-awaited Streetfighter V4. For its part, the Panigale saga can - in addition to the introduction of the new V2 - have a significant improvement that will increase its performance as well as its behavior. While the Multistrada family, will have the arrival of the new Grand Tour and the extension of warranty to 4 years and, last but not least, the Ducati Scrambler range - which will incorporate the new 800 Dark presented in the EICMA - will see the introduction of a new model in the coming months.
