In less than two months, Hyundai has won two brands in the Guinness Record Book through the Kona and Nexus.

First, in December 2019, the aeronautical Bertrand Piccard drove 778 kilometers through France in a Hyundai Nexo, breaking the world record for the longest distance traveled in a hydrogen-powered vehicle with a single tank.

After imposing this mark, in January 2020, Hyundai re-scored in the Guinness Record Book with a somewhat peculiar feat. This time the Kona, the first electric car marketed by the Korean brand, broke the brand of the electric car that has been driven at the highest altitude above sea level.

Although the height is not a problem for an electric vehicle, contrary to cars with combustion engines that lose power in relation to altitude, here the challenge was the performance of the Kona's electrical system. And it is that as it is known, extreme temperatures are the worst enemies of electric cars, because they affect performance.

Regardless of this obstacle, Hyundai Kona came forward after being taken to the mountains of Tibet, where he recorded an altitude of 5,731 meters. This figure allowed him to comfortably break the previous record of 5,715.28 meters of altitude by any electric car.

Obviously, what Hyundai wanted to demonstrate with this record are the great qualities of reliability, even in extreme conditions, of its electric SUV equipped with an autonomy of almost 450 kilometers in mixed use. However, in cities you can climb up to 620 kilometers with a single load.
