Thinking about the comfort of motorists who spend several hours a week behind the wheel, Jaguar Land Rover engineers have developed an innovative seat that suggests the occupant standing.

Incredible as it may seem, this seat that seems taken from the future, makes the driver think that he is walking, when in fact he is sitting.

The above is achieved by using a series of actuators in the seat foam to create constant micro-adjustments that make your brain think it is standing in motion and could be individually adapted to each driver and passenger.

By simulating the pace of walking, a movement known as pelvic oscillation, technology can help mitigate the health risks of sitting too long on long trips.

It is scientifically proven that people who spend too many hours sitting and not exercising, tend to shorten the muscles of the legs, hips and buttocks, causing back pain. Weakened muscles also mean that a serious injury from falls or strains is more likely to be sustained.
