Because electric commercial vehicles will be a fundamental part of mobility, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors Corporation have announced that they will invest $ 110 million to achieve a partnership with Arrival, a startup of electrified vehicles based in the United Kingdom.

Through this alliance, Hyundai and Kia aim to produce zero-emission trucks focused on the transport of goods and people.

Among the plans is to produce vehicles of various sizes, taking advantage of Arrival's scalable electric platform, which can be adapted to different categories.

Initially, this partnership with Arrival will help Hyundai and Kia meet the growing demand in Europe for electric commercial vehicles and accelerate the transformation of both brands in their ambition for a future zero emissions.

Founded in 2015, Arrival today has several production plants and research and development centers in the United States, Germany, Tel Aviv, Russia and the United Kingdom.

One of the great strengths of the company lies in its scalable "skateboard" platform with a modular component structure, a cost-effective base that incorporates a battery pack, electric motor and transmission line components.

By having this ability to develop vehicles of various sizes under a single platform, it is possible to accelerate the development of vehicles to meet the diverse needs of customers.

At the moment, Arrival is carrying out pilot projects with multiple logistics companies in Europe using cargo vans manufactured with this technology.

In addition to the above, the partnership with Arrival will allow Hyundai and Kia to accelerate their strategy to offer hydrogen fuel cell battery solutions.
