[MC]Ronin[MC] Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Yaris 4x4 with 261 "horse" appeared The new GR Yaris is a real sports car, born of Toyota's experience gained on the road to winning World Rally Championships (WRC). Hardened by the success of the heat of the race, he is an expression of the transfer of technology and design from motor sports directly into the world of production cars. The model stays true to the essence of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing for creating ever-better cars that are functional in everyday life and enjoy driving. GR Yaris is a unique model incorporating the design and engineering skills of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing and Tommi Mäkinen Racing, Toyota's WRC partner. In addition to serving as the official homologation model for the development of the next Yaris WRC, it has all the attributes necessary for owners wishing to successfully participate in local rally races. With a planned launch in the second half of 2020, the model will follow the GR Supra as Toyota's second global GR model. Introducing GR Yaris at the Tokyo Motor Show, GAZOO Racing President Shigeki Tomoyama notes, "One of the responsibilities to which TOYOTA GAZOO Racing is dedicated is to use motorsports to enhance people's knowledge and expertise in order to presentation of world-class sports cars. While the new GR Supra is a track-based sports car, the GR Yaris grows on the basis of our participation in the rally - something many of our fans have been looking forward to. " Every aspect of the car is focused on dynamics: a completely new platform and engine, new suspension, lightweight construction and aerodynamic body efficiency, and a new GR-FOUR dual transmission system. High in power and low in weight, the model has all the makings to succeed in racing and to provide exciting dynamics like a super sports hatchback on the road. The new GR Yaris is the first original Toyota dual-drive sports car and the first homologation model for the World Rally Championship race since the end of production of the Celica GT-FOUR in 1999. Within two generations and three models, the Celica GT-FOUR represents Toyota in its most successful series at WRC, a golden era in rally sports, bringing to the company 30 rally victories, four pilot titles and one manufacturer. In tribute to its famous predecessor and its dual transmission system, GR Yaris is proud to carry the GR-FOUR logo on its back cover. As a homologation model, GR Yaris will assist in the development of the new TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team race car for the WRC. After joining the Championship again in 2017, Toyota wins both the manufacturer's title in 2018 and - with Tanak - the pilots in 2019. The expert team of designers and engineers at Tommi Mäkinen Racing's WRC focuses on refining aerodynamics, achieving a low and properly distributed weight of our car - three qualities that are of particular importance for the best performance and reliability. The lower roofline enhances the vehicle's ability to reduce air resistance, while installing the new 1.6 turbo engine further back to the center of the vehicle helps to achieve a better balance of the weight of the chassis for improved handling, stability and the reaction of the car. The three-door body is made of lightweight materials, including carbon-fiber reinforced polymers and aluminum alloys, for an impressive power-to-weight ratio, and the new platform provides a wider track and fits a new rear suspension with two triangular wheel arms . The team has also developed new reinforcement elements in the side sections of the chassis to reach the full suspension potential. To ensure that everything is designed to work in practice, GR Yaris has been intensively tested by professional racing and rally pilots within the development program. The new GR Yaris features a unique three-door body design and a 91mm lowered roofline to create a coupe silhouette. Doors without frames also contribute to the latter. At the front, the grille and spoiler design reflect the car's authentic GR status, while the rear wide track is coupled with sculpted muscular wheel moldings featuring 18-inch aluminum wheels. The all-new 1.6-liter Turbo engine - The GR Yaris engine is a brand-new, turbocharged, three-cylinder engine that takes advantage of motor sports technology to maximize dynamic performance. These include cooling the bottom of the pistons with injectors, large diameter exhaust valves and partially machined intake manifolds. With a displacement of 1,618 cubic centimeters, it has a power of 261 hp / 192 kW and a torque of 360 Nm. Compact and lightweight, Quote
