The President of the Republic, Martín Vizcarra, said that the citizens have the “civic maturity” sufficient to discern the publicity of the political parties for the congressional elections of January 26, 2020.

“Our po[CENSORED]tion has a civic maturity that many underestimate. You have the maturity to make the right and proper decision. This time, they will not be fooled, ”the president told the press.

Martín Vizcarra responded like this when asked about the pronouncement of the Court of Honor of the National Jury of Elections (JNE), in which they asked National Solidarity to remove a video from social networks in which it shows terrorists from Sendero Luminoso and the MRTA and equates them with current politicians from different political groups.

On the other hand, the president said it is "normal" that currently the figures in the polls show a large number of people inclined to vote blank or vitiated in the election process next year.

“It is normal for this enthusiasm to be generated in the last two or three weeks, given that we are finishing the year […] I think that from the first week of January it will take hold and will generate the enthusiasm that this deserve and needs. type of choice, ”he said.

Martín Vizcarra highlighted the importance of the January 2020 elections because it is the process that will designate the new members of the first state power: the Congress of the Republic.

“We have to make an effort to choose well, in all regions. Unlike other elections [...] here we evaluate congressmen who are from Peru but who represent a region. That is why we know them […] You have to see their proposals, also their experience and their trajectory because they can say that they are going to fight corruption but there are candidates who have serious problems, ”he said.
