NASA's first "mega-rocket", ESL, left the New Orleans factory for decisive tests to assess its readiness for launch.

The Space Launch System (SLS) is a critical part of the Artemis program, which aims to bring Americans back to the moon by 2024.

The entire rocket, which will be higher than a 30-story building, is being designed for NASA by Boeing. This is the largest rocket ever made in the United States.

The missile program, which was announced in 2010, was affected by delays and cost overruns.
