Argentinean Lionel Messi wins the Golden Ball for a record sixth time! The Barcelona striker already has one more than his biggest rival in recent years, Cristiano Ronaldo.

By this time, Messi had raised the greatest individual distinction in football in the years 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015.

In the 2018/2019 season, Lionel Messi scored 54 goals for Barcelona and Argentina, and his club team won the title in Spain.

Liverpool Football defender Virgil van Dyke came second in France Football's elite standings. He is one of four Reds to be in the top 7.

In third place was Cristiano Ronaldo, who, however, decided not to honor the glamorous ceremony in Paris.

Special guest of the ceremony was the only Bulgarian to win the Golden Ball - Hristo Stoichkov. The Bulgarian legend was part of the Barcelona delegation.
